Elitist Opportunism In the Face Of Tragedy

It didn't take long for the left-leaning media and political opportunists to take advantage of the tragic Connecticut grade school massacre to further their crusade to confiscate the firearms of law abiding citizens.  First of all, we would all agree that the slaughter of those innocent children and teachers was a tragedy of the first magnitude.  Nobody will argue that point.  The argument starts when the discussion turns to the subject of cause and effect, as well the question “what do we do to keep this from happening again?”  Liberal talking-heads like Piers Morgan couldn’t even wait until the funerals were over.  You could watch him screaming at guests on his program, because those guests had the audacity to suggest the second amendment was still in force, in spite of the insane behavior of a few.  Wow, I wonder when they will be coming after my Chevy pick- up, since some drunk somewhere killed someone in the VERY MODEL that I own!  Stay tuned for further developments on that one.

So, here they go.  The President to the professor is offering up their idealistic, simplistic solution to the problem of violent crime.  GET RID OF THOSE GUNS, PERIOD!  Never mind those violent video games that warped minds can feed on 24/7.  Never mind the complex maze of issues surrounding the mental health crisis in our country.  Never mind the lack of perimeter and internal security at most schools.  JUST GET RID OF THOSE GUNS, PERIOD!  The anointed know what’s best for the majority of us poor, benighted, ignorant Americans.

JUST SHUT UP AND HAND OVER YOUR GUNS!  But it certainly doesn’t look like most of America is listening, as guns and ammo are flying off the shelves in sporting goods stores all over the country.  Yet, anti-gun pundits keep raising the question, “why would anyone feel the need to own one of those assault rifles?”  Semi-automatic rifles are popular for the sport of fixed target shooting at ranges and out in the desert.  Additionally, whether we share the same concerns or not, there are some people in this country who:

1.  Don’t necessarily believe today’s Americans will stand patiently in bread lines, the way they did in 1929.  Did I hear someone say fiscal cliff ?

2.  DON’T TRUST THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT.  Americans are watching the Mayor Bloombergs of this country tell us that nobody but the police (not even the National Guard) should be able to defend themselves with lethal force.  “Don’t worry, we’ll protect you”, they say, while being surrounded by their own personal armed security agents.  Need we point out the hypocrisy at work here?

3.  Believe that private ownership of firearms is a cornerstone of American liberty.  The U.S. is one of the few countries that have anything like a second amendment.  Our founding fathers enshrined the right to bear arms in our founding principles in recognition of it being the ultimate bulwark against tyrannical government.  If the people of places like Sudan and Syria had gun rights protected by their government and courts, would they be oppressed and slaughtered?  Probably not. Maybe the governing should look to close the confidence gap between themselves andwe the people

Studies indicate that firearms are used more than two million times a year for personal protection in our country, and that the presence of a firearm, without a shot being fired, prevents an assault in many instances.  Just ask twelve year old Kendra St. Clair of Calera, OK.  She defended herself in her own home from a thirty-two year old male intruder with a .40cal. Glock, that she had been schooled in the use of.  It was our Lord who told his disciples, he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.  Luke 22:36   In the never ending cultural wars of our ever increasingly divided nation, the issue of self- defense magnifies the gap between the dangerous idealism of the left, and common sense realism of conservative America.

FINALLY, let’s consider THE REAL ISSUE.  OUR BELOVED NATION IS IN GREAT NEED OF REPENTANCE AND REVIVAL!   The troubled young man that committed an evil deed at the school in Connecticut was inspired by none other than the Devil.  He had to be.  Killing innocent children by the score, is unnatural in the extreme.  There was a SATANIC INSPIRATION .  So… We the people of America need to GET RIGHT WITH GOD AND PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY.  If there isn’t a fundament shift in the spiritual direction of our nation, we can expect to see more of the tragedy witnessed in Connecticut.  It won’t matter how many counseling sessions we provide for the mentally disturbed, or how many guns are rounded up and arrested.  Remember, the same day of the Connecticut grade school tragedy, a man in China committed a virtual mirror image crime, using a hammer and knife, in a country that has long ago confiscated all  firearms from its law abiding citizens!
